motion of the blog

Dictionary.com
motion (noun)
1. the action or process of moving or of changing place or position
7. a suggestion or proposal

aft 5.5 yrs / 66 mths of blogging 287 posts n recently reaching ‘official adulthood,’ i decided to change my blog design n blog URL, n move out of Blogspot entirely.

i liked the brown background of my prev blog, n its short URL, n the misty pic of a path in a forest. it had its limitations tho, which i realised when i blogged more. while i loved the pic, the words “i shut my eyes and the world falls dead, i think i made you up inside my head” were not really words that i wanted to appear at the top of my blog, or anywhere else 4 tt matter.

i tried changing blog design, but the blogskins on blogskin.com r difficult to customize. i tried Posterous, but there is only 1 nice design imho, and tt is alr used 4 my cell blog. so i thot of WordPress – the word itself sounds professional – which currently has >90 themes, this one being a theme called Motion. the best thing abt moving – importing my comments + posts frm Blogger took me <10 min.

reasons why i moved to this theme:

  • beautiful background! not monochrome. the background colour is also suitable cos my existing font colours (like yellow) can stand out against the background.
  • customisable header + sub-title + title of my blog, instead of some emo words abt the world falling dead or me making things up inside my head.
  • dropdown box for my archived posts, so there isn’t a long snaky line of  >66 mths anymore.
  • easy navigation of categories – i rly wanted this in my prev blog.
  • i can’t add audio w/o paying for a space upgrade, but i can add doc / docx / pdf / ppt / pptx files to posts, and i find this function useful for my freelance writer website which wld be ready soon.
  • i personally search my blog sometimes for prev posts tt i wanna refer to, n this theme has tt search form at the top rite hand corner.
  • links to recent comments at the sidebar. pple have gd reason 2 think tt i rcv ZERO comments but tt ain’t true! sometimes the comments were posted wks aft the post was made, n there was no way 4 pple 2 know tt comments were posted unless they checked back on prev posts.

so, why “Pris-tine Pondering”?
